Energy Voice @KFUPM

Energy Voice is a full day program that is held at different KSA campuses throughout the year. This program aims to provoke Saudi Youth, mainly students and young professionals, to rethink energy and its sustainability. It is a platform to learn, express an opinion and think about its future. The program was initiated through a collaboration between the Saudi Arabia Section of the Combustion Institute and The Saudi Youth for Sustainability.
The first event was held at KAUST (previous debate link) was a great success. More than 90 people attended by in person and virtually providing a full day worth of activities and interactions for in person attendees.

The "Energy Debate" @KFUPM is an event under this program. 
The debate format is outlined in the infographic below. The debate sessions will be in English and hosted in-person, while broadcasted live on Zoom. So overall, it will be a hybrid event, rotating at different KSA campuses, this time hosted and co-sponsored by King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals , KFUPM.


Energy Debate @ KFUPM
The event will be held at KFUPM Dhahran Campus on 9th February 2023 and will include two debates:
  1. Morning Debate Motion: “Materials and technology impede the adaptation of hydrogen by 2050.”
  2. Afternoon Debate Motion: "The world has enough natural resources to sustain the energy transition towards a clean sustainable energy by 2050."
Calling for participants
Are you:
  • A university student or a professional younger than 35 years old?
  • Passionate about the environment?
  • Informed about energy and renewables?
  • Good at public speaking?
We encourage you to apply for one of the spots on the motion debating panels.

As a participant, your role would be (Kindly refer to the infographic at the top for more information about the roles):
  • Spectrum Participant: Express his/her opinion on the topic of the motion during the debate.
  • ‘For’ Debater: Defend the motion and provide solid arguments to support it.
  • ‘Against’ Debater: Disclaim the motion and provide solid arguments to disprove it.
  • Member of the audience. (a separate registration will be announced later)

Location: Dhahran, KFUPM
Date: Feb 9th, 2023
First debate time (tentative) : 09:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Second debate time (tentative) : 03:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
