Ms. Glenda Teran Cuadrado

PhD student, KAUST

Biography

Glenda Teran Cuadrado holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and now a MSc/Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. As a visiting student at the Clean Combustion Research Center, KAUST, Glenda had the opportunity of being actively involved in one of the projects whose aim was to produce clean hydrogen from the thermocatalytic ammonia decomposition process. She is currently working under Professor Sami Al-Ghamdi’s supervision on the life cycle assessment of cement production in Saudi Arabia in the context of massive construction activities.   Glenda’s time as a BSc and now as a MSc student in Chemical Engineering has opened her eyes to the different scenarios from which she could contribute to developing and implementing sustainable practices in different economic sectors. Nevertheless, she truly believes that there is a significant gap between academia, industry, and the policy-making sector that is hindering the effective and realistic implementation of sustainable technologies. Therefore, she argues that researchers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers should work synergistically in order to evaluate the new pathways to save our planet from a holistic perspective, making those approaches sustainable from environmental, technical, and economic standpoints.
