Dr. Sultan Alshareef is a Saudi sustainability thought leader who has led and delivered a large number of sustainability strategies, frameworks, sustainability implementation plans, and other green initiatives at multiple levels, including local, regional, and the national level. Additionally, he conducted, led, and was a main contributor to many projects, like the roadmap for green economy and sustainable development for Saudi Arabia that was submitted to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman back in 2019, the National Environmental Performance Indicators, the Sustainability Charter of AlUla with its 12 sustainability strategic principles, the Circular Carbon Economy and Resilience approaches for AlUla, the Sustainability Implementation Plan for AlUla, and others.
Dr. Sultan's concrete background enabled him to establish a number of sustainability and environmental departments and teams in a variety of governmental entities. He also led various delegations and represented many organizations that he worked for at many local and global sustainability and environmental conferences and gatherings, including the UN High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, the Saudi Green Initiative Forum and others.
Dr. Sultan Alshareef holds a Phd in the field of sustainability in the built environment from Trinity College Dublin and two Master's Degrees from New York University, USA. The first master was in construction management and the other one was in planning. The Bachelor's Degree is in Architecture and is from Umm Al-Qura University. In fact, the sustainability knowledge and proficiency that are empowered by the high-profile educational institutions as well as the high-profile entities he worked for actually made Dr. Sultan Alshareef a multidisciplinary professional who strongly believes that human capacity can meet expectations beyond sustainability, adding values to human experiences, the planet itself, as well as all interacting species, from life beneath us to life in space.
